Letter from Kathryn Pugh concerning 35 year reunion

Yesterday, two Maplewood things occurred for me.  The morning paper had an article about the star of a DCA victory.  His name is Chris Wooden.  But more importantly, he is the son of Maplewood Ex (Class of 1970--Jeff Woodcock's class), Judy Meeks.  then last night you spoke of your children and their successes.  You were children in 1969 at Maplewood, many of you in my classes.

In case you forget, your children are you, and your children are our future.  Because you have succeeded in life, so will and have they.  Even though your classes in 1969 have passed--35 years ago, even though I don't teach high school English or have a high school Forensic program any more, even though the senior prom (I remember) is passed, even though there are no more 1969 pep rallies in the gym, even though the Maplewood band still plays, and even though the teams are now on a new field and in the same (yet different) gym, the class of 1969 still exists through the "children" of the 1969 graduates.

Thank you for wonderful memories and for last night.  I wish that everyone--teachers and students--could have been there.  Thank you for your children.

Yours,

Ms Pugh
